The Best of A Period
2001-06-03
4.5 more days of school. The kids must be going nuts. Hell, I am in a lazy mood today. I read A period poetry anthologies, and I was envious of some of my students. They are such clever thinkers and perceptive feelers. Let’s do a best of A period, shall we?
Here are some words that I find particularly poetic:
Hannah’s dedication:
To my mom, Who stays up late for meAnd is poetry herself. Sydney:
What does your soul taste like?…I hear these trees moving in the windAs the birds overhear the bugsBeneath.Meghan:
There is nothing but white noise here, with the occasional cut of a car.Yellow streetlights bounce off my jacketonly to fall on the glistening street. …
I have a map of the universe in a language I cannot read.Extended metaphor cut shortyeah that’s life. Will:
Time can waste me, But I’ll never waste time.…
